It was the year 1997. Kenny and Bobbie McCaughey from Iowa thought it was time their little daughter Mikayla had a new sibling. But when they went to get an ultrasound, they had the biggest surprise of their lives. The ultrasound showed not one, not two, but seven different heartbeats! That year, Kenny and Bobbie became parents to the first set of septuplets to ever survive infancy.
There had been cases of septuplets before, but no complete set of septuplets had ever survived. When the McCaugheys found out about their septuplets, they didn’t want to reduce the number of embryos and they decided to leave everything in “god’s hands” instead. Bobbie successfully delivered all seven babies on the 19th of November, 1997. And soon they are going to turn 18!
