“Silent Night” was composed by Franz Xaver Gruber to the lyrics of Father Joseph Mohr in 1818. Over the years, it has established itself as one of the most popular Christmas carols in the world. UNESCO declared it as an intangible cultural heritage in 2011. It was first performed at St. Nicholas parish church in Austria in Christmas Eve 1818. Many artists have made their own rendition of the song since then.
