Harper was found by the vice president of Furever Bully Love Rescue, Natalie Olivieri, in a field in Redland, Florida. The place is famous as a dog dumping ground.
Natalie has come across many homeless dogs over the years, and she knows an abused dog when she sees one. And this one was one of them.

An organization called the Redland Rock Pit Abandoned Dog Project visits the area every day to feed the strays. Sadly, there are many strays than one organization can handle.

Furever Bully Love Rescue teamed up with Redland Rock Pit earlier this year to raise money for the cause and to help rescue dogs in the area.

Natalie says it was an experience she would never forget, because that’s when she met one year old hound mix, Harper.

When volunteers put out food, Harper appeared with four or five other dogs. Then she fell to the ground in fear.

The dog was covered in scars and horrified of humans. There was no way they were going to leave her behind, but she just wouldn’t move.

They were able to slip a leash around her neck, but she refused to get up. So they picked her up and used a blanket instead of a crate.

After she was driven to Orlando, she was treated for anemia, worms, and a tooth infection. But her recovery was going to take a long time.

Harper didn’t stand up for three days. Whenever someone picked her up, she would cling to them and not let go.

It was obvious that her past had mentally scarred her.

A woman called Cheryl Kessler decided to foster her. After just a few weeks, she started seeing a huge change in the dog.

Harper has been getting better every day and she is starting to coming out of her shell. She runs around like a normal dog now, doing donuts in the backyard.

Harper should be going up for adoption anytime now. Please contact Furever Bully Love Rescue if you or anyone you know are interested.
